Statement of Faith

“Who do you say that I am?” was the question Jesus asked his disciples to reveal their profession of faith. For that reason, I’ve shared with you a reflection of my thoughts and beliefs of God, the Bible, salvation, and more!

A Statement of Faith is a confession of what one believes regarding the essentials of the Christian faith. It’s an excellent faith-building exercise for any individual to KNOW what they BELIEVE and WHY.

The Trinity

The One true God is Triune, fully one God yet three persons.
Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19-20, Colossians 2:9.

God exists eternally and immutably as the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. 
Isaiah 43:10-11. Malachi 3:6. John 1:1-3. Hebrews 9:14.

All three persons are described in the Bible as completely God and operating together for and by each other. 
1 Corinthians 2:10-11. Genesis 1:26-27, 3:22, 11:7. Matthew 28:19. John 5:23, 30, 8:29, 10:17-18, 30, 13:3, 14:16-17, 15:25, 16:13-15, 17:22.

The Father is the Divine Source, the Creator. Even so, the very nature of Father is one that fathers; one that loves.
Genesis 1:1. Ephesians 3:9. 1 John 4:7-16.

The Son is loved by the Father and does everything according to His Father’s will.
John 5:19, 14:31, 15:10.

The Holy Spirit is the love and power sent by the Father and the Son as a distinct person of the Triune God.
John 15:26. Galatians 4:6.

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit were together in the beginning.
Genesis 1:1-2, 26. John 17:5, 24.

It is through Jesus by which all things are made. 
John 1:1-3. Colossians 1:15-17. Hebrews 1:2.

The Holy Spirit is the giver of life, and Jesus Christ is the sustainer of life.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18. Colossians 1:17. Hebrews 1:3.



The Father

The Father, Creator of all things, created mankind in His image and likeness and is graciously involved with His creation. 
1 Corinthians 8:6. Genesis 1:27. Deuteronomy 32:6. Psalm 145:8-9. Ephesians 3:9. Revelation 4:11.

Love is the foundation of everything He does, because He is Father in relationship to both the Trinity and mankind. 
Isaiah 63:16. John 3:16. Ephesians 4:6. Romans 8:14. 1 John 4:7-17.

He does not approve of sin yet provides a way to return mankind to Himself and restore fellowship. 
Habakkuk 1:13. Ephesians 1:4-6. 1 John 1:3.

He mercifully saves from sin and death, any who come to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. 
1 Timothy 2:5-6. 1 Peter 1:3. John 1:12.



The Son

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and the sinless Son of man, born of the virgin Mary by the incarnation of the Holy Spirit. 
Psalm 2:7. Matthew 1:18, 25, 3:17. Luke 1:35. Acts 13:33. 2 Corinthians 5:21. Hebrews 4:15. 1 John 3:5.

Jesus is one Christ with two natures, human and Divine, man and God, in one person. 
John 1:1-3, 14. Philippians 2:6-8.

The Son became the eternal sufficient sacrifice through death on a cross and resurrection from the dead. 
Mark 16:9. 1 Corinthians 15:3-8. 1 Peter 3:18.

Jesus Christ has been appointed by the Father to judge all mankind.
Matthew 25:31-46. John 5:22-23. Acts 17:30-31. 2 Corinthians 5:10. Revelation 20:11-15.

He ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven where He intercedes on behalf of His children and will return to earth [very soon] to establish His kingdom.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the giver of life and eternally God.
Genesis 1:2, 2:7. Job 32:8. John 6:63. Romans 8:11. Hebrews 9:14.

He was with the Father and the Son before creation from the beginning. 
Genesis 1:2. John 1:1-5.

The Holy Spirit was active throughout the Old Testament and was a gift to the Church at Pentecost.
Genesis 1:2. Numbers 11:16-30. 1 Samuel 10:10, 16:13-14. Psalm 33:6. Acts 2:1-13.

The Holy Spirit comes forth from the Father and is sent by the Son.
John 15:26.

The Holy Spirit was not only divinely active in creation, the incarnation, and the revelation of scripture, but continues to bring about conviction of sin, righteousness, and judgment that leads one to salvation.
John 16:8-11.

Believers receive the Holy Spirit as a deposit from the Father when they submit their life to Jesus as their Lord and Savior. 
1 Corinthians 6:19. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22. Revelation 7:4, 9:4.

The Holy Spirit empowers, cleanses, and conforms the believer to the image of Christ. 
Matthew 10:1. John 14:26, 16:13. Acts 1:8. Romans 8:6. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11. 2 Corinthians 3:17. Philippians 3:3. 2 Timothy 1:7.

He provides God’s children with instruction and empowerment for service with spiritual gifts and seals them for the day of redemption

He is our Advocate, Comforter and Counselor.

The Scripture

The original writings of the Bible, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible Word of God. 
1 Corinthians 2:7-14. 2 Timothy 3:16.

Men appointed by God authored the scriptures of divine revelation inspired by the Holy Spirit without error in whole or in part.
Matthew 5:18. 1 Thessalonians 2:13. 1 Corinthians 2:13. 2 Peter 1:20-21.

The authority of the Bible is ultimate, final, and eternal. 
Isaiah 40:8. Matthew 22:29. Luke 16:17. Luke 21:33.

Belief in God and faith in Jesus Christ comes from hearing the Word of God.
Proverbs 4:20-22. Romans 10:17. 2 Corinthians 5:17. Galatians 3:2. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. 2 Peter 1:3. 1 John 5:13.



The Atonement

Mankind was created to enjoy an intimate relationship with God.
Genesis 1:27. 2 Chronicles 15:2. Psalm 8:4-5. John 17:3, 22-23. Revelation 4:11.

Sin entered the world when Adam and Eve sinned against God, bringing sin into humanity, and separating us from God.
Genesis 2:16-17, 3:1-19. Isaiah 59:1-2.

We inherit this sinful nature from Adam, therefore destined for death and an eternity removed from God, a physical and spiritual death.
Psalm 51:5. Romans 3:23, 5:12, 17.

Jesus Christ redeemed mankind from sin and death through the shedding of His blood, death on the cross and resurrection from the dead.
John 1:29. Romans 6:23. 1 Corinthians 15:3. Ephesians 1:7. 1 Peter 2:24, 3:18. Hebrews 10:10. 1 John 2:2, 4:10.

Redemption is only applicable to those who accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord over their life.

Salvation

Salvation is the permanent removal of condemnation that comes from sin and establishment of one as holy, creating an eternal state of right standing with God. 
Romans 6:11, 14, 22, 8:1. Ephesians 4:22-24. Hebrews 10:14.

Salvation is a free gift of God because of the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:32. Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10. 1 Peter 1:18-19.

The Holy Spirit brings conviction to an unbeliever and upon their response in faith to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, they are sealed with the indwelling Holy Spirit who produces spiritual fruit and conforms them to God’s will.
Ezekiel 36:27. John 5:24. Romans 2:4, 8:9. 1 Corinthians 6:19. 2 Corinthians 3:18, 7:10. 2 Timothy 1:14. Titus 3:5.

Salvation results from repentance of sin, belief in Jesus as the crucified and resurrected God and acceptance of Him as Ruler and Lord over one’s life.

Salvation is secure and eternal and will produce an active lifestyle of loving obedience and service to Jesus Christ.

Salvation can’t be obtained nor maintained by good works. Salvation is given and maintained by the grace of God.

The Church

The Church consists of all those who have placed their faith in God through Jesus Christ, Jew and Gentile alike from across the ages.
1 Corinthians 12:13.

Jesus Christ is the head and supreme authority of the Church.
Matthew 16:18. Ephesians 4:4-16.

The Church individually and corporately is to live for the praise of God’s glory.
Ephesians 1:11-14, 3:21. 2 Corinthians 3:18.

The Church is to gather locally for the purpose of strengthening one another through teaching, fellowship, communion, and prayer. 
Acts 2:42, 14:23, 27. Colossians 1:28. Philippians 1:1. 1 Thessalonians 1:1, 5:11. 2 Thessalonians 1:1. Hebrews 10:24-25.

The mission of the Church is to go out from among each other to share the gospel and make disciples of every nation. 
Matthew 28:18-20. Mark 16:15. John 8:31-32, 13:35. Acts 1:8.



The Return to Shalom

In the Garden of Eden, mankind was created in peace to live eternally with God. Those who have believed in the Lord will one day return to live in peace eternally in the New Heaven and New Earth with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 
Genesis 1:27-28, 2:8, 16-17. Isaiah 11:6-9, 32:18, 51:3. Revelation 2:7, 21:1-27.

As a fulfillment of prophecy, there will first be a seven-year period of tribulation on earth, concluded with the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. 
Daniel 9:27. Matthew 24:15-21. 2 Thessalonians 2:7-10.

He will return full of glory to the earth in bodily form for every eye to see and take His place on the throne of David in Jerusalem to establish His kingdom. 
Isaiah 9:6-7. Matthew 24:27-31, 25:31. Acts 1:10-11, 2:29-30.

Jesus will reign on earth for 1,000 years with the resurrected saints and restore Israel to their land.
Isaiah 2:4. Jeremiah 30:8-11. Deuteronomy 30:1-9. Revelation 20:4-6.

During the close of the Millennial Kingdom, Satan and his army will be cast out of all creation to an eternal lake of fire and Jesus Christ will judge all people. 
Revelation 20:7-15.

All those who did not believe will be placed in eternal judgment in the lake of fire and sulfur, a place void of hope due to complete separation from God, and will suffer eternally, consciously, and bodily. 
Daniel 12:2-3. 2 Thessalonians 1:9. Revelation 14:10, 19:20, 20:10, 21:6-8.

All whose names are written in the Book of Life will join the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the New Heaven and New Earth in a constant continual state of glory forever. 
Ephesians 5:5. 2 Peter 3:10-13. Revelation 20:15, 21:1-27, 22:1-21.



After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: 
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.
For you granted him authority over all people
 that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.
Now this is eternal life: that they know you,
the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

The Trinity

The Scripture

The Atonement

inherit: to receive as if from an ancestor

resurrection: the state of one risen from the dead

Salvation

gift: something voluntarily transferred by one person to another without compensation

conviction: the feeling of being sure that what you believe or say is true

repentance: to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life

The Church

Jew: a person belonging to a continuation through descent of the ancient Jewish people

Gentile: a person who is a non-Jew

the praise of God’s glory: to live a life that brings Him glory; to glorify God; to display His glory or goodness to the world (gotquestions.com)

gospel: the message concerning Christ, the kingdom of God, and salvation

disciples: one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another

The Return to Shalom

tribulations: an appointed time of seven years when righteous judgments are poured out on the earth and its inhabitants (gotquestions.com)

saints: a group of people set apart from the Lord and His kingdom (gotquestions.com)

Millennial Kingdom: the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ on earth (gotquestions.com)

Book of Life: the set of names of those who will live with God forever in heaven (gotquestions.com)
