God Connections
Have you ever found yourself in just the right situation meeting just the right person with the answer you needed? Make no mistake, it was a God connection.
His hands created everything from the stars in the sky to the protons of an atom, yet his involvement in every part of his creation has never ceased.
In his defense Jesus said to them,
“My Father is always at his work to this very day,
and I too am working.”
John 5:17 NIV
Why does it surprise us when provision arrives, relief from sickness comes, and traffic parts like the red sea? Thank the Lord!
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
Psalm 28:7 NIV
Long story short, in 2007, God gave me the solution to a problem. The problem was child slavery in the country of Haiti.
What can change a culture so prevalent with corruption, poverty, and child servanthood? If it’s a cultural norm to acquire child servants, how can you change this social perspective and why is it allowed to continue?
Poverty fuels it. Corruption allows it.
How do you combat poverty and corruption? In numbers. The solution is to raise up a generation of Christ-following believers to saturate the leadership in every area of the nation’s infrastructure. Change the nation from the inside out through the hands of the children raised to follow Jesus and educated to be leaders. Sounds easy enough, right?
My hope was to build Christian schools in Haiti. But how?
Ten years later, while researching for a seminary project, I came across an article authored by a gentleman teaching at a Christian school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It was a long shot, but I sent him a DM on Facebook. To my surprise, he responded, we talked on the phone, and I shared my vision to build Christian schools in Haiti. He insisted I meet his friend, Miquette McMahon, who was doing just that, building Christian schools in the villages of Haiti and educating the poorest of poor.
After exchanging a few emails with Miquette, my husband and I booked a flight to Minnesota to meet her at a Teach Haiti fundraiser, and the rest is history!
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
Where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1-2 ESV
God can answer a decade-long prayer in an instant. He’s always working on our behalf according to His plans. Little did I know, God was preparing me in the ten years of waiting. After a teaching assignment in a local Christian school, three trips to Haiti, and a seminary degree, He made the connection. God is the author of networking. He is The Great Connector! See TEACH HAITI to learn more about this great organization and our current projects.
Our story is never over. As long as we have breath the Lord will have plans for us. We can trust Him to provide all that we need in the meantime including His perfect and anointed connections.
YOUR TURN: Give God the credit He deserves for connecting and networking you with others according to His plans for your life. Post your GOD CONNECTION below!
